About

Hi, I'm Liz. I work full-time as a software developer. In my off hours, I make stained glass inspired by the books I can’t stop thinking about.
I started in 2022 after watching someone build a panel and thinking, I could try that. I bought some tools, made a couple pieces, and then it slowly took over my life. Turns out that if you combine books with making things by hand, I lose all sense of moderation.
Most of what I make comes from whatever I’m reading, or from something I read months ago that still hasn’t let me go. If I finish a book and my first thought is, I need to draw that, it’s probably becoming a panel. I’ll sketch it badly, redraw it twelve times, and then spend hours cutting glass until my hands hurt and I realize I forgot to eat lunch.
I work out of my house in Allentown, PA, with my husband and two dogs, who are convinced the studio belongs to them. Most nights, I come home from work, put on an audiobook and disappear in there for hours. I use a lot of textured and iridescent glass because I love how a piece changes depending on the light, it feels more magical. I paint all the details by hand with toothpicks - yes, toothpicks...because they handle enamel paint better than brushes - I won't be elaborating lol.
This started as a hobby. I posted a few pieces online and found people who love the same books I do and care about things made intentionally, one at a time. That community is the only reason this became more than me alone in my studio at night.
Over time, my work has developed a style that feels very much my own - the shapes, the details, the way the glass and paint come together. It’s something I care about a lot, and I try to honor that in everything I make.
I do everything myself - designing, cutting, painting, soldering, patina, polish, shipping. And because I still work full-time, I don’t take commissions. I make the pieces I want to make and release small batch collections when they feel ready! Every piece is one-of-one, no piece is ever the same and that's what makes this so special.
If you want to see what I’m working on, or which book is currently ruining my life, I’m on Instagram @lehighstainedglass. Occasionally TikTok @lehighglass.
